What is Akshay Tritiya
According to Hindus the “mahurats” or the auspicious timings is very important in doing everything in life – be it to start a new business venture or making an important purchase. The day of Akshaya Tritiya is one such great occasion in a year, which is one of the most auspicious day of the year for doing any auspicious work. On this day It is considered, that any important activity started would be fruitful and bring good results.
Significance of Akshya Tritiya
Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third day of the Shukal Paksh of the Hindu Vaishakh Month, which is in the April – May of the English Calendar. This is the only single occasion in the year when Sun and Moon are in their signs of exaltation. Sun will be in Aries and Moon will be in Taurus. Sun and Moon are the two luminaries of our planet and the significator of the soul and mind. On this day both are simultaneously at their peak of brightness and auspiciousness. The auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya is considered the most auspicious day for spirituality. It is considered the most auspicious day because whatever auspicious activities and charities are performed on this day do not go in vain. This is the reason why all auspicious deeds like starting a new business, buying land, house warming, making a new investments, marriage or Homa etc are performed and started on this day. It is the auspicious energy of Sun and Moon that eradicates all sins and brings success.
What to Do on Akshaya Tritiya
This is a highly auspicious day for fasting and one should worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi on this day. In the morning after having bath one should start worshipping God by offering leaves of basil (tulsi plant) with sugar candy. Donate the favorite articles with oblation among the devotees.
