Yes as one of you is Capricorn and the other is Aquarius, it does cancel bhakoot dosha, as lord of both is Saturn or Shani. However, I observed that one of you is Mangalik and the other is not mangalik. Probably that is why some astrologers told you not to proceed ahead with marriage.
