This is one of the most frequently asked questions in Vedic astrology, and my answer as an astrologer is: Yes, a boy with strong mangal dosha can marry a girl who has no Mangal Dosha, but only after a detailed horoscope analysis. It is not advisable to reject or accept a match based solely on the presence of Mangal Dosha.

According to classical Vedic astrology, Mars represents energy, passion, aggression, courage, and marital harmony. When Mars occupies certain houses such as the 1st,  4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house, it may create Mangal Dosha. However, the actual impact depends upon the strength of Mars, its sign placement, conjunctions, aspects, and overall planetary balance in the chart.

In cases where the boy has a high or strong Mangal Dosha and the girl has no Mangal Dosha, the following rules must be carefully checked:

First, any cancellation (Mangal Dosha cancellation or Mangal Dosha Parihara) should be examined. Mars placed in its own signs Aries or Scorpio, exalted in Capricorn, or influenced by benefic planets may significantly reduce the dosha.

Second, the 7th house, 7th lord, Venus, and Navamsha chart (D-9) must be analyzed. A strong marriage house can often overcome the challenges created by Mars.

Third, the girl’s horoscope may contain planetary combinations that naturally absorb or balance the Martian energy, even if she is technically non-Manglik.

Fourth, the overall compatibility through Ashtakoota Guna Milan, Bhakoot, Nadi, emotional compatibility, and longevity factors should be assessed. Marriage success depends on the entire horoscope, not a single dosha.

In my professional experience, I have seen many successful marriages between a Manglik and a non-Manglik where the dosha was cancelled or balanced by other powerful yogas. At the same time, I have also seen relationships struggle when important marital factors were ignored despite matching Mangal Dosha.

Therefore, the golden rule is simple: never judge a marriage proposal by Mangal Dosha alone. A complete compatibility analysis of both charts is essential before reaching any conclusion. Proper astrological evaluation can reveal whether the Mars energy will create conflict or become a source of strength, passion, and mutual growth in the marriage.
