I want to start wearing a Rudraksha for spiritual and astrological benefits.
Can I wear Rudraksha on a black thread, or is it better to use a red, yellow, or another color thread?
Does the type or color of thread have any effect on the benefits of Rudraksha? Please guide me on the correct way to wear Rudraksha.

Yes, Rudraksha can traditionally be worn on a black thread, although different traditions prescribe different colors depending on the purpose and the type of Rudraksha being worn.

In general, the thread is considered a means of holding the Rudraksha close to the body; the main spiritual significance is associated with the Rudraksha bead itself, rather than the color of the thread. Therefore, wearing a Rudraksha on a black thread does not automatically reduce its spiritual or astrological significance.

A red thread is commonly associated with strength, energy, and auspiciousness, while a yellow thread is often associated with Jupiter, knowledge, spirituality, and prosperity. A black thread is traditionally used in some families and practices for protection and to ward off negative influences. However, there is no single universal rule in Hindu tradition that says every Rudraksha must be worn with one particular color of thread.

The more important point is to select an authentic and suitable Rudraksha according to your spiritual purpose or astrological requirement. The Mukhi (number of faces) of the Rudraksha is traditionally given more importance than the thread color.

Before wearing it, many practitioners prefer to clean the Rudraksha and offer prayers to Lord Shiva. It can then be strung on a clean cotton or silk thread. Some people also wear Rudraksha in a silver or gold setting.

If you are wearing Rudraksha specifically for astrological purposes, rather than simply as a spiritual bead, it is better to examine the individual birth chart and determine which Mukhi Rudraksha is appropriate.

So, black thread can be used, provided it is comfortable and follows your family or spiritual tradition. The thread color by itself should not be considered the primary factor determining the benefits of Rudraksha.
