Auspicious Day and Time to Enter New House – Griha Pravesh

Auspicious Day and Time to Enter New House - Griha Pravesh

As a child I still remember the Movie, Roti, Kapra aur Makan which came out in the 70ies. In the 21st century in India these three are still the most important things revolving an ordinary person. In the last 10 years the price of real estate and property has gone up tremendously and the rise in population, shortage of land is becoming the prime factor in the escalation of land prices throughout the country. Owning a house / flat is a dream for many and the ones who are lucky to own a house; it is a moment to feel proud. Many times it is seen that even after building a house or buying a flat; one loses it due to unfortunate events in one’s life, we may call this destiny, but what are the things you should do astrologically that would ensure that you stay permanent in your own house. What are the things that will bring positive energy in your house and remove negative energy permanently? What things you should remember while Grah Pravesh or entering a new house that will bring you luck.

What things to do during Grah Pravesh that will bring positive energy and enhance luck:

So after all the years of waiting you get the opportunity of entering your new house, your new world where you will get happiness, security and peace of mind. After completing the construction of the house when you enter the house for the purpose of living, that occasion is called Grah Pravesh. It is important to do the Puja, Havan at the time of Grah Pravesh.

An Auspicious Muhurt should be fixed for Grah Pravesh after consulting an able astrologer or a Pandit.

Auspicious Muhurt or Time for Grah Pravesh

Grah Pravesh should not be performed on Amavasya and Rikta Tithi. Dooj (Dwitiya ), Teej( Tritiya), Panchami, Chath (Shashthi), Saptami, Dashmi, Ekadashi and Trayodashi (Teras) are auspicious tithi for entering a new house.

Auspicious Nakshatra for Grah pravesh: Rohini, Revati, Swati, Pushya, Hast, Poonarvasu, Ashwini, Uttarbhadrapad, Uttarasadha, Uttar Phalguni, Mool, Mrigshira, Shatbhisha and Dhanishta.

It is obvious that you want to stay permanently in your house, therefore the same has to be done during a fixed Lagan. If the entry in the house is done in a movable Lagan then the native will get to live in the house/ flat temporarily only and will move out of the house after a short while.

Grah Pravesh should take place up to or before Noon.  As far as possible Grah Pravesh or entering your house should not be done in the evening or at night. The best time should be taken after referring the Panchang or after consulting a competent astrologer.

If for some reason you are planning not to stay in your house but to have a house on rent then you give the keys of your house in a movable Lagan. That way the tenant will not stay permanent and will move out of the house after couple of years automatically.

The difference between Moveable and Fixed Lagan has to be understood in relation to entering the house. If it is for your own staying purpose then it has to be in a Fixed Lagan that would be permanent and if it for renting to someone then it should be done in a movable lagan so that the tenant does not stay permanent and automatically vacates your property after couple of years.

Things not to forget while decorating your house:

A house is a place where a person should feel totally relaxed. The day’s tiredness is removed as you enter the house and come in the company of family members. Many times it is seen that the atmosphere in the house itself is negative and family members want to run away from the house rather than live in the house. Below are small things that you can do that will enhance the positivity in your house and make you and your family member’s feel the positive energy.

  1. Use well paint, light and anti-reflected paint. Make sure no walls have bad paint or are dirty and broken.
  2. Dress-up your house with well furnish furniture, with sufficient open place in every rooms, which will make easy and happy life.
  3. Decorate your wall with good picture and poster, like happy couple, paying children, God, golden moment together. At a glance when you see it your mind will be cheerful and fresh.
  4. Don’t fix any cruel animal picture or a Horror picture, obscene picture, it will only bring negativity, in your mind, and, you will lost peace of mind.

  13. Sir,

We took a new house in Hyderabad, India and we are planning for House warming on 4th June 2017 late night (i.e., early hours of 5th June 2017).

My Birth Star is Visakha, 4th Pada, vrischika raasi (DoB: 04-05-1977 @ 1.55 p.m. near by Rajahmundry, AP)
My Spouse birth star is Chitha, 3rd pada, tula raasi (DoB: 03-05-1985 @ 7.15 p.m. near by NELLORE, AP)

I found this muhurtha is mithra tara for me and janma tara for my spouse. I also heard that there no dosha even it’s janma tara while house warming for yajamani. Request you to clarify my doubt and let’s know whether we can proceed further or not for this occasion.

  14. Dear Kind Sir!

  17. Sir,
we are planning for griha pravesh on 28-4-2017, but rohini nakshatra starts on that day at 1.33 pm,
Can we do griha pravesh in afternoon if not, Kindly suggest me good muhurat time and Stira Lagna for griha pravesh on 28th April 2017.

    Regards,
    atmaram

    1. Akshay Tritya is one of the most auspicious daysin the year as per Hindu Calendar. Therefore there is nothing much to see on this day. Yes you are correct that rohini Nakshatra starts at 1:33 Pm on 28th April. Earlier to that Taurus lagna is there , however Rahu is in the 4th house, which is not good as 4th house is for property and also place where you live. Therefore I suggest that you should do grah pravesh after 8:30 AM and complete before 10:40 Am as thereafter there is Rahu Kaal.

      Blessings,

      Navneet Khanna

      1. Sir,
Thank you very much for your valuable guidance and blessings.
But sir, before 1.33 pm we are still in Krittika Nakshatra, Rohini starts aftet 1.33 pm so can we do griha pravesh in Krittika Nakshatra ?

        2. and Sir, You suggested do griha pravesh after 8.30 am and complete before 10.30 am, what does it mean ? what exactly we have to do in between. because vaastu puja, Navgriha puja, Shanti Havan, Satyanarayan puja will atleast 3 hours time.

Kindly guide us (I will eagerly waiting for your suggestion, because only 2 days are left for 28.4.2017 (i.e. Akshy tritiya)

        Pranaam,

        Atmaram

  18. Sir,
We have performed Griha Pravesh on 29.04.17. But I have certain doubts. We stay in a rented house and we had to travel to our new house. We the entire family reached our new house at 10:30 and entered it and got it cleaned by 10: 40..(Our house could not be cleaned before because the paintings was not complete and no one was there to clean it.) By that time our pandit made arrangements for the saligram puja and installed it in the east zone.. But by the time it was 11:05 the milk was boiling and we again entered the house whilst chanting mantras by the pandit. Sir, my doubt is have we entered our house in the auspicious muhurta? If not, what remedies can rectify it…
